Vesak is the most important of Buddhist festivals in which celebrates the Conception, Enlightenment and Parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. It has been recognised as a day of world importance by the United Nations for the message of universal peace and joy which for centuries Vesak has transmitted to humanity.
The fifth in a series of retreats to prepare and bless the mantra rolls that fill the Gyaltsen, the victory banners that will be placed on the roof of the Temple of Heaven on Earth. According to the ancient Himalayan and Buddhist tradition, Gyaltsen are auspicious banners representing victory over mental defects and negativity.
Their purpose is to protect the environment and the five elements, promote physical and mental well-being and thus contribute to inner and world peace. This retreat is a precious opportunity to contribute to the building and blessing of the Temple of Heaven on Earth. The practice of Green Tara is a special method in Tibetan Buddhism that helps to dissipate interferences and free living beings from any form of fear and danger. Tara is known as the Great Liberator and Swift Heroine for the speed that characterises her intervention.
